For the record, so anyone will be clear on this, so let me explain...


I collect art, but I am picky as to which styles or artists I want to have work of to put on my walls and in my home.

When I find someone who's art and style I like, I usually will inquire if they do commissions, or requests/trades or -- in lieu of them having inked artwork -- if they are willing to let me color one of their pieces.

In the case of commissions, when I inquire about that, it's not just in the "let me see your prices... oh, that much? Sorry, not interested." sort of vein.

I inquire because I AM interested in purchasing a piece of work done by YOU.

As such, I usually have one of two reasons attached:

-- One, I have the money on hand to pay for the work.
-- or Two, I don't have the money, but when I do, I will pay for the work.

In any case, I make it a point to do my best to keep up with keeping in touch with the artist, so they know my interest is still there, even when I don't have the funds at that particular moment. I will NEVER just drop any and all communication, as if to mean my interest has waned. If I ever lose interest in commissioning someone, I will at least give them the courtesy of a note or email, to say that much.

This does get to be a problem in some cases, when either my regular life outside of DA intrudes (to the point I forget, and that has happened a couple of times), or if something disrupts the lines of communication (i.e. - DA's note system not delivering a note, emails lost in transit, etc.).

But I will ALWAYS do my best to report back to the artist if there is a change in plans or a loss of interest.
